Hay Festival

Image
Neil Gaiman And Stephen Fry I have never been to the Hay Festival before. I see adverts for it and hear about the appearances but it's three and a half hours from home so it took something special to get me there.  Neil Gaiman and Stephen Fry When I saw there would be an audience with Neil Gaiman and Stephen Fry I knew I had to go. I have never fawned over actors or models, give me an interesting mind any day, a writer, an artist, a musician, a scientist some one who thinks beautifully. Then I am jelly. I turn into a teenage fan girl, I have now seen/met several of my favourite minds but Neil Gaiman remained top of my wish list.  From the moment I found his work I was enchanted, I would never return to be the person I was before I read American Gods. A book recommended by a friend. I sat down to begin and the next thing I knew it was the end of the book. I didn't move for roughly 8 hours, I completely ignored my partner, I was lost in the world of Shadow....

Belper

Image
Tiny Town Big Community On Saturday, May 6th 2017 we took a little trip to an adorable little town in Derbyshire.  We found the town centre nice and easily and found a free car park, that in itself seems like a miracle when you have come from Manchester. We parked up and I admired the view for a moment.  Car Park View In Belper  Then we headed down a gorgeous little secret feeling passage way, which had me excited before I even got anywhere.  Cute Path With Flowers  Then we hit the high street and the first shop we came to was possibly the cutest shop I have ever seen. J'adore Ma Vie is gorgeous from the outside and even better from the inside.  J'adore Shop Front It was full of lovely things for the home and wonderful gifts. Including some with an amazing Belper theme. There was so much to look at as soon as you walked through the door it was like a magical treasure trove of quaint.   It's Always Gin O'clock In ...

Five Future Plans

Image
Looking Forward So it's another little getting to know me post. Thing one is just telling you a little of what I am working towards. Working Towards the Future By Reading Photo By Me 1. I want to be a neuroscientist. One day in the distant future I want to do research into how people's brains work and don't work. I have completed step one of this plan, find out what I need to do to get there. Step 2 was to apply for college to do psychology and anatomy, which I have done and I have an interview. After that it's time to work my butt off at college and get into uni. Maybe do 6 years there, eeeep.  Brain Structure Diagram Drawn And Photographed By Me 2. I want to be organised, I am trying my hardest. I am just not very good at it. I tend to be a little disorderly. I am using a planner and trying to sort several areas of my life out.  Diary And Journal Photo By Me 3. I want to do more creative stuff, going to and making. I am involved in a f...

Favourite Quotes

Image
So I thought sharing some of my favourite quotes with you might give you a bit of insight into me.  Photo by me Taken outside Liverpool Central Library   My all time favourite person to quote from is the wonderful Oscar Wilde. I could quote him forever, but I will just share a few of my favs. We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes. To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all. Too many people today know the price of everything and the value of nothing. My love of Oscar is long standing I fell in love with his wit at the age of 12. I bought the complete works around 18 and not a year passes where I do not fall in love with him all over again. I guess one of my next big quotable people would be Neil Gaiman. My love of whom is strongest when perfectly matched with Dave Mckean. I can not describe his writing in a way that does it any justice b...

Twenty Things About Me Photography by Ds Photography Model Me Things you should probably know about me if you are looking around here, if you don't approve of the important ones you probably won't have fun here.
