One Hell Of A Tuesday

Image
Petrol Bastard Live at The Peer Hat I wish every Tuesday could be like this but I am not rock and roll enough to handle that. After life being stolen by a pandemic and illness the energy at this gig was exactly what I needed. I can't explain it to you in words and do it justice so as standard I'm going to add pictures. Have you ever been in a room of strangers and known they were all your people? Petrol Bastard, by Cute As Sin Photography There is always this strange feeling at a Petrol gig, Bastard or Hoers, we are all here for something we know is bloody weird and we don't know quite how its going to go down but we are doing it together. After being locked away from everyone this couldn't have been more perfect. Although I have to admit not everyone here was a stranger as always at one of these gigs I made new friends. Posing Pouch I walked in just after the first band had begun and already this gig is not what I was expecting. Astronauts! Complete with crowd assiste...

The Return of The Great Procrastinator

Image
The Return of The Great Procrastinator Hi!!!!!!! Have you missed me?   Quarantine Selfie by Cute As Sin Artist Lets be honest you haven't. The world has been on fire for a while now and the last thing you have all worried about is my blog. Not to say I don't know people who will be pleased with the return of the great procrastinator. What have I been so busy with? I hear you all shout, other than university just surviving as a low immune systemed person in a plague. It's been rough, mainly hearing how it's ok and everyone should get on with it because it's just people like me who will die, we don't matter you see.  I won't dwell on the plague problem though you are all living it too, so lets move on to the good stuff.  I did manage to get my degree and I'm just about to start my masters because I'm a masochist.  I finally got a new (to me) camera, after a couple of years with a dodgy one and disheartened with photography. I've taken some photogra...

Ola, Pixelate And Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand

Image
An Exquisite Evening of Ethereal Entertainment  Hosted By Analogue Trash At the Castle Hotel Manchester The evening began with Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand an electronic, ambient, industrial trio. I have seen them previously but before they added the third member. They were just as good as I remembered and soon I was sat on the floor relaxing and getting lost in the music. They manage to be soothing, all encompassing and slightly creepy all at once.    Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand  The lead singers voice portrays the heartbreak and pain mentioned in the lyrics perfectly, then at other times manages to sound completely robotic. You can clearly see all the members get lost in the music as the performance goes on. The build up to the ending was intense, they gained an extra singer and a metal barrel being used as a drum. The sounds filled the room as the powerful lyrics were spoken, each crash of the barrel ringing out, the music heightening and the ...

THE BATTLE FOR TOMORROW

Image
A Curious Cabaret Of Sonic Discordance At Maguire's Pizza Bar On Friday the 19th I travelled over to Liverpool for a rather interesting gig, The Battle For Tomorrow, described on the poster as noise doom spoken word clown drone punk poetry brickcore industrial grrrr.  The Battle For Tomorrow is an album of poetry by Adam Probert accompanied by the experimental noise of John E Smoke, but that's skipping ahead a little bit.  Adam Probert The gig was hosted by The Percy Vermin Experiment a master of words, with a marvellous flair for performance.  Percy Vermin The first act was poet, Ellie W Muddy reading three sensational poems. Her reading was impassioned and rousing. One of the poems was accompanied by an atmospheric noise piece making it even more engaging.  Ellie W Muddy Then there was a huge change in pace with Pandemonium, the noisiest clown I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He provided a fanfare of commotion, an ex...

Music I love

Image
Here are 10 songs I love  This has been really difficult to write but here is an idea of the music I like. I am going to alternate between an old song that really shaped my taste in music and a song I have only heard in the last year or so that was just amazing.  I am kicking off the list with Korn's Make me Bad  I heard this song when I was in my early teens and it has never failed to make me happy and to make me dance. I very quickly became a huge Korn fan and they very nearly made it into the new tracks I love too.    Photo of me showing my Korn influence, by me  The first new track is Def Neon with Chocolate . I heard this song live at Beat;Cancer in Leeds last summer, it's off their new album and they just blew me away. I struggled to pick from their new album tracks and was torn between this one and Rotoscope. They have so much energy live it's just amazing.  The song that shaped my music tastes is  Placebo 36 degrees...
